Maybe now that they've got a goaltender they can win the Cup
It was bound to happen. Fans close to the Vancouver Canucks have sensed that things on the bench have not been... well, right. Whether it was the hit or the suspension or a combination of both factors -- Todd Bertuzzi's return did nothing for the team nor the fans.
And so a deal was made. Forward Todd Bertuzzi, defenceman Bryan Allen and goaltender Alex Auld are on their way to the Florida Panthers in exchange for goaltender Robert Luongo, defenceman Lukas Krajicek and a sixth round pick in tomorrow’s NHL Entry Draft.
"We believe that in Roberto we are getting a player who has represented his country at the highest level, has been nominated for the Vezina Trophy and has proven that he is among the elite goaltenders in the world," said Dave Nonis, the Canucks' senior vice-president and general manager. |
