THE MAYHEM: Big Ben Has Lost It Steelers QB wants everyone to believe he's going to be 100 percent - not everyone's buying it
Ben Roethlisberger’s words: "I can be hurt. It can end in a split second. I've said it before, it's almost like you get a feeling of invincibility.”
And more: "Sometimes you forget that you are human. I think it's really helped me remember that I am."
The “it”, of course, is what followed the screech heard ’round Pittsburgh on June 12 - a near-fatal collision of 240 pounds of local hero against the grill of an opposing Chrysler New Yorker the color of a bullet. Along with a busted face and wrecked knee, Roethlisberger suffered a cut in his mouth that caused blood to gush into his stomach, a condition that medical types say could have meant Big Ben’s life had a football-loving paramedic not noticed the wound in time to stanch the flow.
