ENGLAND'S 1-0 victory over Ecuador has seen them cut from 6/1 to 11/2 to win this summer's World Cup.
Despite an early plunge on the South American underdogs a flurry of late bets on the Three Lions saw them cost bookmakers up to £500,000.
Sven's men, who will play either Portugal or Holland in the quarter final, are now ten games undefeated.
But the lacklustre nature of their victory is not causing undue concern in the offices.
Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "We thought we were on for our best result of the tournament so far when it was drifting towards a drawl - but Beckham saved the day for England and for the punters.
"We've trimmed them due to the weight of money but we were distinctly underwhelmed. You can't help but feel they'll be sent packing by the first half decent side they meet.
"England will cost us over £2 million if they win it - but we're not sweating at the moment."
Brazil are 11/4 to win their first World Cup in Europe since 1958, with Argentina 3/1 and the hosts Germany available at 5/1.
Despite his brilliant free-kick, Beckham is still 150/1 to be named top tournament goalscorer.
