LADBROKES are 3/1 about Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder being the highest placed English manager in this season's premiership.
The former West Ham manager heads a field which includes ex- England hopeful Sam Allardyce, a 4/1 chance, and current West Ham boss Alan Pardew, available at 5/1.
Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: "Much has been made of the lack of English managerial talent. This was highlighted by the furore that surrounded the appointment of Steve McClaren as Three Lions boss. A good season for one of the English candidates will leave them being spoken about as a national manager in the making.
"After an impressive start to his Newcastle career we think Glenn Roeder will be the man to beat."
Steve McClaren's Middlesbrough successor ,Gareth Southgate, is 6/1 to claim English bragging rights.
