F1 sensation Lewis Hamilton remains 1-12 favourite with bookmaker VCBet to win this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, despite the British driver failing to register a podium finish for the first time this season.

"By his own sky-high standards, Lewis Hamilton's performance in the European Grand Prix was very disappointing, but as far as we're concerned, even if he doesn't win another race this season, he's already done enough in his remarkable rookie season to secure the BBC award" said a bookie spokesman.
