Ever since he started playing for Millwall way back in 1984, Teddy has brought an air of excitement to the game of football and maintained a high level of professionalism throughout his career. He is renowned for both his physical fitness and his dedication to the game and is considered by many, fans and officials alike, to be the epitome of a premiership football player.
With a career spanning over 20 years, Teddy has just about done it all; playing for the likes of Nottingham Forrest, Spurs and Portsmouth, not to mention Manchester United where in 1999 he achieved his ambition of winning some trophies by helping United go on to win the treble.
In addition to this, Teddy has no less than 51 England caps, 3 premiership titles and near on 300 goals to his name. Even today at the age of 40, Teddy is still “hammering them home” and played a key role last season in the rise to the premiership of his current club, West Ham United. He is also only the second player in history (not including goalkeepers) to have played in the premiership aged over 40.
Through sheer determination and skill, Teddy has demanded the respect of the football fraternity. His competitive spirit has driven him to excel at even the highest level of the game and, with another year at West Ham yet to come, is sure to provide us all with some spectacular footballing moments. |
