After his stunning victory at Hoylake over the weekend, William Hill have installed Tiger Woods as their 4/1 favourite to win the Open in 2007 and will be banking on the elements and a tough Carnoustie to tame the Tiger. "Tiger was untouchable all weekend and no mortal golfer looked like beating him. We will be hoping that the unpredictable Carnoustie will prove his downfall." said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams. Despite a disappointing performance from the majority of European golfers, Hills have cut the price of a European Ryder Cup victory from 4/5 to 8/11 and offer the USA at 11/8. "Having looked at the latest Ryder Cup standings we feel that the European team has more strength and depth and have therefore shortened the price." said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams. Tigers latest major win is great news for Thomas Gallagher from Linwood in Scotland, who placed a £10,900 bet in 2001 that Tiger Woods would win 18 majors before the end of 2010. Hills offered 10/1 and should Tiger win a further seven majors he will win over £100,000!
